A 400' long Russian tanker (converted freighter) attacked 29 April 1942 and sinking a few days later due to damage suffered from being torpedoed by the U-402. She now lies in 60' of water on the tip of Cape Lookout Shoals, a broken and scattered wreck from multiple explosive demolition exercises in 1943 and 1944. Much of the wreck is spread about and partially buried amongst the sand. Two boilers reach to within 35' of the surface. Winter storms uncover new artifacts each year.
