While not conclusively proven, the wreck of the Chenango is thought to rest upside down in approximately 140 feet of water.  The Chenango was a 342-foot long freighter torpedoed by the U-84 on April 20, 1942.  The actual location of the sinking is nebulous at best, and the survivors of the vessel drifted for several days before being rescued.  It is also possible that this wreck is that of the Harpathian, a 380-foot long freighter torpedoed in 1918.  The wreck hosts abundant and large tautog and black sea bass.
