SHIPWRECKS OF THE SUNSHINE STATE!
The "Oil Wreck" is an unidentified tanker that rests in 145' of water 93 miles southwest of Ft. Myers. Carrying bunker oil, the vessel has a fracture amidships where the cargo still leaks to the surface to this day. She sits with a 120 degree list to starboard, almost turtled. The bow has extensive damage associated with it, possibly from the attack that sunk her. The engine room can easily be entered and divers can inspect shaft alley. The wreck has good artifact potential, with portholes still to be found attached to bulkheads. Due to her location near shrimping grounds, the wreck usually does not have stellar visibility. The identity of the wreck has yet to be confirmed and is rarely visited by divers.
