An unknown vessel that was used as a storeship ran aground close to Fort Ocracoke on Beacon Island. She was burned by the USS Fanny on 17 September 1861, without removing much of her stores. This wreck subsequently led to the loss of both the Prony and the sidewheel steamer Winslow. The wreck should still reside within the offshore bar close to shore.
